goodbye cheese, goodbye friends. goodbye cows and dick bacon. goodbye lakes, geese, and ice-too-thin-to-step-on (learned the wet way). goodbye breweries and fat factories...goodbye wisconsin!

Steak&Shake :: ingested for my mother.
While speaking on the phone with my mother about the things I plan to do in Wisconsin ("yes mom, dick bacon. it's his name.") she interrupted me with a request so filled with enthusiasm that it rocked my little brain from thousands of miles away...
"Wait. Do they have a steak and shake?"
"Yeah, I think we drove past one today."
"OH MY GOD! You have to get a burger. Oh my, just listen. Ok. Listen...They've got these BURGERS...and these SHAKES...oh my god you just, just go. Ok? go for me?!"
"Um. ok mom."
"Great. wow. STEAK and Shake. wow."
My mother informed me with glee that the patties can be served on toast. oh joy of joys. L.Dubs took one for the team and finished my half as I continued to inspect the tropical orange hue of the "special sauce."

Heyo. I be a traveller of states.
I, along with my trusty new phone/sidekick 'Gay Panda' have made it to the fine state of Wisconsin all in one piece. It's been a pretty intense journey to say the least. I got home from a weekend in Mammoth and packed all of my belongings into a suitcase the size of an affordable Tokyo flat. "Sally the Mustang" took me to Denver where I boarded "Max the Lion cub" and flew to Milwaukee...the beautiful land of baby-leashes and Steak&Shakes.
L.Wolf and I have put together a pretty fabulous list of things to do/see/attempt while I'm here:
(Title of this trip...To Be Decided)
*tour the city's longest street, 27th street
*buy vitamins at outpost natural foods
*see if the security guard at the midwest express center is real
*get a shake at lixx
*go to the domes
*ham it up with the monkeys at the zoo
*ice skate at the pettit center
*eat a butter burger at kopp's
*shop on brady street
*milk cows at a farm
*stroll the streets of old Milwaukee at the museum
*ride the mechanical pepper at la perla
*cruise lake drive
*get a tan in memory of dick bacon
*shop for a vintage lp at flipville records
*marvel at the art museum expansion
*rollerblade at veteran's park
*meet david hasselhoff (and dustin diamond)
*sunday night game shows at the times cinema
*buy toothbrushes for H. & L.
*tour a brewery
*B-I-N-G-O !
*the Ldubs house tour
*Get Naked with Of Montreal
yes. fabulous to say the least. gorgeousosity to come.

The Creative Process: eat books, shower in music, shit art : A work in progress
no really. shit art. crappy art.
I've been wrassling with this painting forever and I have to finish it because...I just do. To be completely truthful, this painting is a terrible pain in the ass. I'll paint for two days and then throw it in the garage for a week or two and tell it that it has been a very very bad painting and can only come out when it has some direction. This damn painting is a smart ass.
But, to be completely truthful, I'm learning alot by slopping around some colors with my crappy old brushes and crappy old paints. And that's all I can really ask for having never really been formally "taught" how to paint.

'Amazing. Wasn't it incredible?' said Claire, looking to Warren with an intensity that fulfilled Kiki's hazy idea of how an artist should be: passionate, attentive, bringing her native enthusiasm to the smallest matters. - zadie smith on beauty

"Owl Love You All Year is about sharing your heart and art season-wide! This is basically an opportunity to send something you've always wanted to see in a valentine, wanted to receive in a valentine, or always wanted to say to someone in a valentine-- and you get to say it ALL YEAR long without the limitation of a holiday"

my mind goes 'round in circles
Being in Newport amidst young people and broken glass, got me thinking about the idea of family. I said it better before in an e-mail to Rachel...but I accidentally deleted it, so I'll try to recreate my sentiment.
I find it interesting that we, as children who have left home, create families wherever we find ourselves. In the stead of blood relatives, we are supported by the other young people around us. We play house everyday as a surrogate sister, mother, brother etc ... And in this mishmosh of leaning and heaping and loving and supporting, people develop real relationships and grow from these play families into real families. It's just a muse to amuse me, but I like thinking about it.
are you my mother?: best book ever

g'bye dirty33rd
this is my newport. my newport is dirty feet and broken windows. my newport is skateboarding 20 blocks at night. my newport is a family of lost children. here. paradise was lost and what have we found? something so imperfectly brilliant that it is almost unbearable. this newport is a seagull taking shit from that swatch of immaculate cloudless sky.
